Single Pitch Award
The Single Pitch Award
Designed specifically for those who wish to introduce, coach and develop others to rock climb at single pitch venues and artificial climbing walls across the UK. This is a national award accredited by the United Kingdom Mountain Leader Training Board
First steps:
Register with your home nation training board. Registration requirements are:
A minimum 18 years of age and hold a membership of an affiliated mountaineering club or a mountaineering council.
Prior to attending a training course you should have: At least 12 months rock climbing experience and have led a minimum of 15 outdoor routes of any grade, using leader placed protection and recorded these routes in a suitable log book. (Available at registration should you require) If you already have high level of experience, you may apply for exemption from the training course. To do this send your completed log book to your training board after registration, exemption will then be considered by the board. If in doubt - the best advice is to attend a training course and learn the techniques and understand level of experience we require – this makes your assessment far easier.
