The Matterhorn
"The worlds most sought after summit"
The Matterhorn is an icon among mountaineers who strive to accomplish the challege just to say "I've done it".
Although not the biggest of mountains, standing at 4477meters the Matterhorn is still a real test of stamina, determination and physical fitness.
So of course it's on our repertoire!
The Matterhorn sits on the border between Switzerland and Italy. There are four distinct ridges which meet to create the "idyllic" mountain silhoutte that we all knew to be true as kids! The preferred route is the Hornli Ridge, as many as 4,000 climbers attempt it each year, only around 3,000 actually reach the summit! It's tough going and people are often let down by fitness. All of our trips have been a great success, with everyone reaching the summit.
We offer a seven day itinerary, which can be done in groups of 6-12, keen, fit climbers. It's a tough few days, with the ascent day as long as 10 hours on foot. But it's well worth the effort when you stand looking down on Zermatt and see what you have overcome. Technically it is a relatively straight forward climb so don't worry if your not a top climber- the Matterhorn is still within your reach!
