At 6356m Illampu is one of the tallest peaks in Bolivia. The northern-most mountain of the Cordillera Real range, it is considered by the indigenous peoples of the area to be The King of Mountains and it's easy to see why, although not the tallest mountain by far it is one of the most challenging to climb, both physically and technically demanding with some steep snow climbing, the mountaineer is rewarded with breathtaking views of the Amazon Basin, Lake Titicaca, the Cordillera Real and to the south the Cordillera Apolobamba ranges from the summit.
